At the Favored End our goal is to get more people out on the water. Nothing can be more daunting or stressful than taking a new (or new to you) boat away from the dock and not knowing fully how it handles and being confident in your ability. We can help you with learning the right way to dock and undock, anchor, reef sails, set downwind sails and have fun—not stress on the water.

Chris holds a UCSG 25 Ton Master License with Sailing Endorsement and carries full liability insurance so both you and your insurance company will be happy!

Each training session is customized to your needs but here are some of the things we can cover:

  • Safety-How to be safe onboard for you, your family and guests

  • How use your VHF properly

  • Basic Seamanship-how to tie your boat to the dock the right way, basic knots you need to know

  • Low or no visibility operations

  • Coastal navigation with electronic and paper charts

  • Docking and undocking in all conditions

  • Setting and retrieving your anchor

  • Basic diesel maintenance-pre and post operation checks

  • Sailing instruction as needed

  • Things you should be checking regularly on your boat for peace of mind
